hi,

ive got the artic cooling freezer 64 pro heatsink on a 3700+. is the fan meant to be facing downwards as I get bad temperatures but I saw one in a PC for sale and its facing towards the RAM?!

thanks for any help.

The fan blows air through the heatsink. It should be positioned so the air is being blown towards an exhaust fan. The HSF can be rotated by 90, 180 and 270 degrees too.

thanks, just had a look at the fan and its actually facing the RAM which I didnt think was how I fitted it. So you're saying I need to change it the other way round to face to back of the case where a case fan is placed? would this make my temperatures better than 54C Full folding load?

thanks

Best results would be for the fan to be blowing towards and exhaust fan like Sirius said, it would reduce case temps

Ideally it should blow towards the rear exhaust, and depending on your motherboard you may or may not need to switch the mounting clip around as SiriusB said. I've seen lots of people with them blowing upwards though, but I assume those cases have top 80mm exhaust fan or something. Basically don't have it blowing downwards or towards the front.

If thats how its facing, then it doesnt need turning around. Just try reseating it, clearing it of dust and tidy cables to improve airlfow.. 54c does seem a bit hot for that cooler
