No no, the problem was just with the bracket (it was my thread;)). The bracket is the only fault with this excellent budget cooler. Arctic are currently sending me another two brackets, but I've since sent the cooler back to the vendor and will hopefully get a refund.

TO sum up, Freezer7 is a very good cooler for the money, especially so for c2d and c2q. Maybe it would be a good idea to get a spare bracket (costs about 70p) so you wont be stranded for weeks waiting for replacement. On the other hand I would never trust it though and have temp monitor on at all times - jsut in case the flaming bracket was to crack again. So maybe its not that good after all... More expensive Freezer13 also uses the same bracket, so I would definitely avoid that one - for such money may as well get CoolerMaster 212Evo or Gelid Tranquillo with metal brackets.

Oh, and no need to apply more paste, the pre applied paste is plenty enough.

Thank you for that information.

im on a really tight budget of £15 the coolor is £13 inc p&p and ive found a metal bracket that can be adapted to fit the cooler would it be ok then ?

The freezer 7 isn't a bad cooler IMO. It kept my Q6600 at 3.4GHz under 65°C under load. I now have one on my HTPC and it's very quiet and keeps temps very low, really can't complain for what they cost.

Where did you find a metal bracket for it and are you sure it would fit?

As far as I'm aware Arctic Cooling use the same plastic bracket for all of their coolers.
With a proper metal mounting bracket I'd give Freezer7 5 stars - its just awesome value for the money (at £13).

sounf it for 6.99 brand new with 1.99 p&p

the bracket is for 775 socket with some screws and spirgy pads to sit them on to get it level

Ah, ok:)
Now though your Freezer7 starts costing £22, and I just do not see a point in it at that price - there are a lot of 4 heat pipe coolers for same money or there about that perform much better than Freezer7. Imho, live with a plastic bracket Freezer7 or get another cooler altogether.
