OK.. On overclockers site it doesnt say anything about it supporting socket AM2, just socket 940.

On artics site it says it supports AM2, but its in bold? Just looking at am2 motherboards and on the plastic stuff around the cpu there is only two(one on each side) plastic things to be clipped onto.

The 64 pro requires 6(3 on each side)

Just to correct your assumption. The 64 Pro has 6 holes in the clip. It does not require 6 corresponding clips.

Arctic Cooling themselves say it supports AM2. So clearly it does not require 6 clips.
