artic freezer 7 thermal pad?

hi

just got a artic freezer 7 pro, ive noticed it has a thermal pad thing under it , if i wish to also use artic silver 5 compound do i need to take the thermal pad off ?

or do i leave it on and still use the silver 5?

also does the artic freezer come with any compound already on and should i wipe it off if it does?

Either use the AS5 or the supplied MX1 thermal pad.

The stock thermal pad is actually as good, if not better than the AS5.

I'd say use the supplied thermal pad first and only wipe it off next time when you need to take the cooler off.

yea i have some AS1 but i left the stock compound on and my c2d is @ like 22degrees or so im told, so i think its fine.

The stock compound (MX-1) is every bit as good as AS5 and the thickness is done like that on purpose to allow for any concave IHS issues. It's best to use it - as you seem to have found yourself.

Stick with the thermal pad, from all accounts it seems to work very well.
