Daft question so please go easy on me..

My AFP7 arrived this morning and appears to have a thermal pad on it. I'm guessing this isn't as good as Artic silver so how do you safely remove this pad?

Normally they come pre applied with MX-1 Thermal Compound which is just as good as AS5 (some say it's better).

It may look like a pad as they put enough on for about 4 CPU's

:D

agreed, definately MX-1, and i find it's better than AS5 anyway, if u want to remove it though, i use a bit of tissue :D... although a lot of people will tell you to NOT do it this way, reccomend using a TIM remover, or just as good, alcohol based nail polish remover (NOT oil based) or even isopropyl alcohol, use a lint free cloth too...

... i'd leave the pad on though :D

I was a bit sceptical about the stuff on my freezer pro 7 as well, but I tell you 45% overclock and a MAX temp of 58 degrees after Orthos all night, and I can tell ya, what ever it is, it WORKS. (still haven't finished fiddling with the overclock yet, either)
