ok guys i got my thermal paste and i used the method on the website to apply the paste think i put to much on so took the cooler off and cleaned that down and reseathed the cooler on cpu still had good even coverage on cpu.

now my temps are at 33deg idle and go to 55 under load

am on a q6600 and with the artic freezer pro

are these temps acceptable or should i clean down and try another method of applying paste.

this is my 1st time at doin this so and advice is good

thanks

Best way to apply paste on a quad core is a single thin line left to right across the middle of the text about the same width as the text...

Those temps look fine tho so I wouldn't waste any more time on it.

ok cool tbh i though they would have dropped quite low as they were similar temps with the standard thermal paste on the freezer pro?.

but as long as there acceptable i shuold be ok.

might leave till weekend and see what temps are like but thanks guys

AS5 takes up to 200hrs (and several fullthermal cycles - so needs several shutdowns to allow it to fully cool) before it has properly 'cured'. You could lose a few degrees yet.

The standard Freezer 7 paste is Arctic Cooling MX2 which is meant to be quite good anyway.
