I've got the apex raw and I love it, won't say anything much about the keys except I like them, haven't tried many keyboards.
How useful the macros keys depends on the games you play, for MMOs and stuff they're great.
Backlighting for me is nice and uniform but I feel it's a bit dim.

I have an M800 and while the low profile keys are an acquired taste I have grown to love mine. I noticed a difference immediately in games, the characters felt more responsive because of the lower throw distance.

Pretty much this, I've gone from full cherry mech keyboards to the M800 Apex and I love it.
