Using a replacement graphics card at the moment (GTX 660) since my 7950 has been RMA'd, and I had an incident before.

I don't OC my card or anything, but when i sat down at my desk earlier the screen suddenly had loads of artifacts all over it, then it fixed itself. I updated the driver and restarted and nothing has happened since.

I'm just curious as to why it did it. Is this card on its way out too? Or can it just happen now and then?

It happened so fast I couldn't get a screen shot. Tried to recreate what happened but no luck so far.

Thing is the card has worked fine for the best part of three months, because it was in and out of my machine as I tried to fix the one that got RMA'd.

Loose cable from monitor to PC? Gremlins? If it does it again, I would start to do some testing but as it has only done it the once, I wouldn't worry.
