My x1800xt 256mb has recently started artifacting @ stock settings in various games (such as battlefield 2, C.O.D 2, C&C Generals etc) now for my monitor's native resolution of 1024x768 this should not be a problem at all.

I'm considering as it must be faulty, R.M.A'ing it or getting a refund for a 7900gt trouble is I have no idea how.

Any help is much appreciated

Thanks

Strange not heard of many x1800's going wrong, just rma it and get a replacement. No point getting a 7900, they perform slightly worse at stock, cost more and at the moment have quite a high failure rate.

Out of interest in your sig you state your graphics card speeds as "621/720 :D " and i presume by the smile your happy with that, only stock speed is 625/750 so you've either done a typo or your running under clocked!!???

Stock speed is 600/700 @ stock i had it slightly overclocked for a while, noticed artifacts and put it back down, now it does it @ stock too

Man is my face red :( In the catalyst/ ati tool etc it's always read the 3d speeds as 600/700 - weird  Oh well looks like it's R.M.A for me.

But how do i go about it?

Thanks

EDIT: also I am interested in overclocking, when i brought mine new it was for around the 170 mark is it worth the extra 15 quid or so to get the 7900gt and up the speeds past the x1800xt? - I also like quiet so would inotice the difference in that too?

In the CCC the speed in the current clock tabs are the 2d speeds, requested tabs are the 3d speeds. They just underclock when not being used and switch to the 3d speed when you start a 3d application. Easy mistake to make.
As for the rma i presume you got it from ocuk, if so just drop them a webnote stating your problem and they will get back to you and inform you of the returns procedure. would have thought the turn around time would be about 3-5 days maybe a few more.

Edit: i wouldnt get a 7900 at the moment, the failure rate is high and a volt mod is needed to get high clocks and thats wipes out your warrenty so if it goes **** up your £200 short. Just get a straight swap and clock the x1800.
