Artifacting xbox 360

I was playing PES 2008 this morning and all was working well. My girl friend has just went on my 360 to play crash of the titans and it has started artifacting :confused:. It is working 100% fine with movies and the xbox 360 dashboard. Can anyone help me ? I dont even get any 3RROD lights :(
 
If it's less than a year old take it back, it's about to die anyway. Its getting hot when playing games and your GFX card is about borked. Either take it back to replace it or leave it running with a game til it gives up.
 
That's what mine starting doing shortly before it gave up ghost (shortly after it stopped outputting any display signal).
 
Yeah I had graphic artifacts some months ago last year. This was before M$ decided to buckle and extend the warranty. And mine was well out of warranty.

By that time I'd done a bit of googling and taken the 360 apart done the X clamp replacement thing, put some proper HS goop on the chips and stuck some baffles around the fan duct to improve things......

Its not skipped a beat since :D

This happened to my first 360! It gave up eventually and went RROD a day or two after. :)

This was back in December 05 though, the replacement I got in Jan 06 still works even in the care of my cousins who think a 360 in front of a radiator is an ideal place to keep it.
 
I started to get this last night on CoD4, only does it when playing, not on the title screen. I say artifacts, it's more like i'm looking through a wire mesh at the screen.
Is it the same thing? Only had it 9 months so if it does go Iv'e got a bit of time to take it back.

That certinaly sounds like the graphical problems you get just before death. Have you not had it crash yet? Just keep on using it until it finally passes away. Mine only took a few hours from first artifact to full blown death, but your covered anyway so just wait and see.
 
Yep, it's died now. Got a single red ring on it, think its the 'scaler chip' have contacted MS via email. Will now start looking for the Receipt:eek:

Still, I'd try it. I managed to get a direct replacement once from a retailer as they didn't check - just say your not sure, but it was in the last few months (be vague). If they do check the exact purchase date they'll say no though, worth a try :)
