I was just playing Crysis on my ATI 1900XTX and I started getting artifacts around 15 minutes into the game. The card is not overclocked, not even ATI Overdrive so why is it doing this?

I cleaned out all the dust etc and it still does this...

Is there any way I can force the fan to run at 100%?

It must be overheating,if any game can bring a gpu to its knees it's cryisis, the fan should be running 100% in 3d anyway,I haven't used CCC for a while as I use Nvidia at the moment so I can't remember the fan settings,I know ATI Tool provides fan control though.

If problems still occur it may be worth checking the heatsink mounting and applying your own thermal paste,AS5 or ceramique. Most manufacturers seem to use cheap stuff and just slap it on carelessly.

Check your case airflow also, and make sure gpu exhaust flow is unimpeeded, the damn curtains often get in the way of mine!

That sounds bad. I knew my 1900xt was borked when it artifacted at stock @2d clocks never mind 3d

Anyway you can fix fan to 100% in Ati tool easy in settings/fan control/override fan speeds/fixed percentage = 100%

Save the profile

Tho thats gonna be hella loud:eek:

It only happens in Crysis, although I have only played UT2004 and the new NFS game with this graphics card.

I have just installed ATI Tool and set up the fan speeds so that it goes to 100% as soon as the temperature hits 75 degrees :)

Have you checked the back of the fan for dust?. My card would get blocked every few months with a build up of dust as my case is always open and sits to to the right of me instead of underneath my desk. I keep it this way for easy access.

I cleaned the fan and heatsink grills out as well as configured ATI Tool's Fan Settings and it seems fine now :D
