My R290x is starting to show artifacts and many games are now crashing.

I have tried updating my drivers, but that hasn't helped. Is it likely my card is on its way out?

It's not overclocked.
I just found an old 5870 and put that in. No artifacts.

I've left it all powered off for now. I will try putting it back and checking it is seated properly a bit later.

What's the best way to check the temps? Just run a game in windowed mode and use the temp gauge in the AMD control panel?

I've put the 290x back in after letting it cool down and checking that it's seated properly. Still getting severe artifacts.

Looks like it's time for a replacement before my Rift arrives. Cheers, folks.

Seems my thread asking about which new card to buy has turned into another troubleshooting thread. Apologies, all - it wasn't my intent to double-post on this issue.

Anyway - temps:
40 idle, and sitting on the title screen of Dying Light, it hit around 64. I didn't bother to go in-game, as even on the title screen there were artifacts everywhere, so I'm guessing temperatures are not the issue.

I think I'm going to call it.
