Hi all, hope somebody can help.
Monitors:
Samsung LS27R750 at 1440p 144Hz and an AOC 2460P at 1080p 120Hz.
I recently upgraded the system from gtx 670 to 4070ti.
Before the upgrade, the 670 couldn't do 1440 @ 144hz (it wouldn't show up in the menu), so I ran it at 120hz. Sometimes I had to unplug the Samsung monitor, wait for system to boot, then plug it for it display, so I thought the GPU is dying.
Now after the upgrade, it ran fine for first 5-10 boots, and now I start to see artifacts after the PC was shutdown for some time, and the artifacts slowly go away. They appear at the bottom of the monitor and slowly reduce and then are completely gone within 5 minutes. If I switch to 120 Hz, they are instantly gone. I was away for the weekend, and when I came back, the monitor was completely full in artifacts and it took about 30 min for all to go away. It is so weird.
I have purchased a new mini display port cable and the issue persists. Tried variations of display port/hdmi connections between two monitors and issue is still there, but only when the 27" 1440p monitor is running at 144 Hz. Both DP cables are definitely compatible, and there are no problems with performance or anything like that, it is just weird and worrying as you know, the 4070ti cost some bucks. Monitor self diagnosis also displays artifacts. Also they don't appear if I reboot, or shut down for short period of time.
What else could I test? It sounds like a monitor issue or the driver issue, but driver is less likely as similar artifact pattern was with gtx 670. Could it be some compatibility problem,as the other monitor is at 120 hz?
Many thanks
