After installing my MSI Geforce GTX 570 I have been getting random lockups with artifacts all over the screen. It hasn't happened while playing games. The first time it happened was when I opened Curse client (program for downloading WoW addons). It has also occurred while just sitting in windows.

My PC Specs are:

Core i5 OC to 4GHz
4GB Corsair RAM
700W OCZ Power Supply
Single 570 at stock speed with 263.09 drivers.

I used driver sweeper to remove my old ATi drivers, etc.

I wonder if the i5 OC + 570 is too much for the power supply? Although, strangly I have been able to play WoW for hours without any problems, yet while sitting in windows I get lockups.

Run Furmark and Prime 95... But really a OCZ 700W should be enough, I had one for abit then i Switched to a TX850 from corsair.. were a good upgrade just to many cables so i got delivery of my new AX850 this morning CBA to fit it atm though :)

can always try another 6pin lead on the psu.

try reinstalling drivers if you havent already. if really in doubt try it in another computer. could be the card is bad. happened to a 4870x2 i had before, except it imploded very soon after that.

if problem exists in another pc then get it replaced right away.

Great advise given here, i have virtually the same spec, although i have a 580 and my i5 is clocked to 3.9.
Your power supply will be fine, personally i think it may be down to the overclock being slightly unstable maybe?

Well I restored my CPU to stock settings, to see if the overclock was the problem, and I still got artifacts.

I noticed the braket on the gfx card is bent and the hole wouldn't align with the hole in the case, so I couldn't screw it in. I used a cable tie to hold it, and it seems ok?

The artifacts only appear intermittently, as I was able to go for a week without seeing them before today.

Where did you buy it from?

Well with some fiddling and poking I managed to get the card screwed in. I noticed it was a bit lose even with the cable tie, so hopefully that was the problem.
