Hi all,

we are using an AS/400 at work and a program called BPCS, im not sure if this will mean anything to the majority of you (And im hoping this is in the right section). Today we had training on BPCS regarding stock control and movement.

I got chatting to the IT guy about how he moved up throught the company and is now considered the IT guy/BPCS Superuser. He told me that the company is after more people to be trained as superusers and general IT people and he will get in touch if an opening comes up.

However, i have no experience of AS/400 and little experience of BPCS. Im after any info you guys have regarding training websites, documents, tutorials etc etc.

I would also like info on the best way to start training for an IT role, i have good knowledge already but need some qualification to back it up. Any advice?

Ive also been asked to write user instructions for some of the PC stuff i do in my day-to-day job. Do you think PRT SCN and using those images in a word document would be a decent starting point? How about recording the more complex jobs i do and providing the tutorial as a video with written back ups?

Thanks for any info or suggestions you guys can provide me with, i am getting fed up with rotating 12 hour shifts and would like to make the move in to IT.

I have an AS/400 and I know the IBM documentation is comprehensive if a little hard to find and heavy to read. What version of OS/400 is it running or is it using AIX?

not to sure about what version its running, im going to email the trainer and ask, im just after anything at the moment that i can learn that will put me in good stead when this job comes up.

Thanks for that link, will be having a proper look through it later :D
