And an Artic cooler doesnt perform well

Im idle at 28-30c on my HIS card and max load is about 55c @ 600/600 16 pipes enabled

We were joking, but aswell, the HIS cooler is just a crappy cheap copy of an AC made by AC!
They even say on their website its got a crappy PCB so it will eventuall kill the fan, that's why I've got it running on a fan controller.
But the AC 5 Rev2 cooler for example would be better than this even though its almost the same, it keeps the cost down.

What kind of temps and clocks are you getting?
Well... em... its a X700 :o

So far managed 486MHz core (from 400MHz) and 1084MHz memory (from 700MHz). Temp not gone above 60º with fan @ 60%.

Dropping

Used to idle at 51°~52° (bad case - adds 10° to everything). Now i've seen it even go down to 46°. Maximum temps I can't remember, but i guess its a good thing if its not going over 60° :)

I'm thinking of buying myself some of this and swapping my stock Thermalright thermal paste for it. From what i've seen you get about a 2 degree drop, which will take my temperatures from 31 to about 29 at idle which will be nice :)

Also think i'll try swapping the thermal goop on the stock X1800 XT heatsink.

deffo gonna invest in a VF900 and some AS5 for my x1800xt - these results are impressive, currently idles at 57 degrees with stock cooler :(

got AS5 on everythin i can put it on in my comp, cpu, graphics, NB. its definatly a lot better than the stuff most things ship with!
