I bought some as5 from a auction site, and it doesnt seem to spread very well its like a very thick mud not at all like the mormal tim i use which spreads about nicely, is it meant to be like this??

I doubt it's a problem, just make sure you're spreading it right I guess... I've never had a problem with AS5, although I *THINK* I have heard of tim going out of date.... not sure. Wait for more replies as I'm in a bit of a clueless mood

AS5 is a little thick - doesn't run - but on 939 systems you don't have to spread it anymore - just put a 'blob' in the middle of the heatspreader and attach the HSF - it does the spreading for you
