Hey guys,

I have a Asda interview coming up on Wednesday not sure if it's a 'Magic' one that I've been hearing about as I haven't received any emails or had the person that I rang said anything about a 'Magic' interview.

The job I applied for was a Warehouse Operative.

Any advice?

What should I wear? (I have a Grey Primark suit I was thinking of wearing)

Thanks!

Because it isn't required, and you wouldn't want to be wearing your best suit when you do the try it out part of the assessment process which would have you working in a specific area on the shop floor, and when they communicated by email about this they specified not wearing a suit but not to wear trainers (so a smart but casual appearance would be acceptable).

I've done several of these, so I have the process down pat.

They haven't emailed me or sent me a text only called my house phone to tell me I have a interview in-store.

Got the job going for an Induction on Tuesday/Wednesday.

What I had to do:

There was about 13 of us total.

At first we had to stand up and sort ourselves in order of Day/Month as a little Ice breaker.

Then we had to watch a video about ASDA and what they represent.

Then we were grouped into pairs and had to find out the following questions about your partner and tell them back to the group
- What celebrity would you want to meet and why?
- What fruit would you be?
- Why do you want to work at ASDA?
- What was your most exciting experience?

We were then told to join groups with 3 people depending on what colour you liked, Red, Green and Blue. We then had to show off a product to everyone the price, who would use it, why they would use it and make a jingle for the product to sell.

Another kind of ice breaker after that we had to 'Have a Go', we were put into three groups each of the groups taken to different sections of the store and to basically tidy the shop floor (shelves) basically we were on the 'Rumble' hour whereby the shop floor shelves must be tidied from 3-5pm and look as they were in the morning, whilst also filling out a sheet which I did later.

We were then given another questionnaire to fill out relating to what we want to do specific departments etc...

Lastly we were taken to like the main supervisors who would ask you questions about can you give me an example of when you handled a difficult customer or something like that, and when I was last ill.

Couple hours later I received a call saying I got the Warehouse Job and my induction starts Tuesday.

It's not that hard really I'm not a properly confident person but they do make you feel at ease and after a while you feel comfortable to be able to speak to people normally as you would.

Congrats

Bit odd that they put you through all that if you're going to end up in the warehouse and not interacting with customers - were some of the people there going for other customer facing roles?

Well I think that it's just in case you don't get the job that you want because if they didn't have this job available they would have offered me a different one.

Well done Nemesis :)

Cheers.
