Nope, not their own brand rubber but their tyre supply/fitting service.

They do the big brands and you drive down to a local fitting centre to have them fitted. Good prices.

I went with Event Tyres in the end as it was only £5 more for 2 Goodyears as they offered a mobile fitting service where they come to my workplace and sort everything out without me having to go anywhere.

Event is a mobile tyre fitting service, he bought Goodyear's from them instead of Asda.

That's right. Event Tyres as in the mobile fitting company (not the actual make of tyre):

I used E-Tyres previously for convenience but Event Tyres seem to be cheaper supplying Goodyears, Contis etc. Didn't even realise there was a brand of tyres called Event!

Goodyear suck, you made the right choice.

EfficientGrip Performance do pretty well in this test:

Only £100 per tyre as well for 225/45/17

You bought Asda SmartPrice tyres? RIP

Would never go for those ditch-a-ling brand tyres....in the Autocar test, the Linglong equipped Golf was still travelling at 27mpg but the time the Conti equipped Golf had stopped!!

I'm not sure how they can be a bargain though when for only a few pounds more you can have convinience on top.

If they were that much of a bargain then surely you'd have gone to them!

^ Well, some people like saving £5 or £6 if it involves driving 15 mins down the road to a fitter place and hanging about in the waiting room.

Horses for courses :p

More of a saving with other brands/sizes. Guy at work went with Asda to supply some 245/45/18 P-Zeros. About £20-£30 saving I think for 4 tyres.

Great price from Asda on Avon ZZ3s 255/35/20 - approx. £50 less than BlackCircles.
Don't actually need any right now, but will remember the site for future reference, having just realised how much money tyres are going to extract from me!

It is worth shopping around when the time comes as prices do fluctuate with these online/mobile fitters.

I used Event but they put the wrong tyres on so had to get them to put the old ones back on and went back to etryres who I've used before, cost about £2 per tyre more but me..

I didn't realise there was a brand called event too until I Googled the due to this thread, they look a bit budget to me lol!

Asda tyres weren't cheap for me. I was looking at getting some Bridgestone ER300s, EP150s or Yokohama Bluearth AE01s and they were nowhere near the cheapest.

I ended up getting 4 Toyo Proxes CF2s (in 185/55r16 at £75.10 each - the choice is limited due to rare size) from www.pneus-tyres-online.co.uk, with fitting, balancing etc for £20 all in at my local main Honda dealer (it was there anyway for a £250+VAT bonnet respray after vandalism, they provide a courtesy car and the timing was convenient).
