Asda vs Shell V-Power Nitro+

I only ever fill up with the premium fuels if I pull up to a pump and the pump for the boggo is out of order. Can't say I've ever noticed a difference that makes the price difference worthwhile.

Annoying thing about premium fuels is most stations don't put it on every machine, so you have to try and find the one that has it and then wait for the old biddy in front to get out of the way.

Because almost every car (i guess yours included) cannot take advantage of the increased resistance to pre det afforded by higher RON fuels. To all other cars the fuel is identical, premium fuel does not mean that the fuel has more energy content or anything like that.

What I find annoying is the smaller petrol stations that have a decent price on normal unleaded, but then add a ridiculous 10p+ on to their super unleadeds. Not a problem when I'm driving local as I already know which stations to avoid, but when I'm away it gets on my nerves.

I resent paying 5ppl more for Vpower than Tesco99. It definitely pops and crackles more, that's all I can say. I've never dared run 95 with boost-up mods, JDM ECU and no knock sensor. In a BMW M52 engine it makes no difference at all though.

Can confirm that my 0 - 60 time has dropped from 17 seconds to 8.6 seconds now I have started using VPower!

Top speed up from 95 to 150!

Scary stuff... :p

The margins on these premium fuels must be many many times higher when you think the real cost of the fuel is 25p per litre yet the premium fuel can be 10p a litre higher in some stations, that's 47% higher price!

Currently got £30 worth of Morrisons finest petrol in the tank (was running out), car gets less mpg and doesn't pick up as quickly.

I usually run on V-Power since the engine is specificaly designed and recommened for 98Ron min.

Results depend on the engine, for most cars it will make very little to no difference.

Morrisons fuel is pants. I've only ever used Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys, Morrisons and Shell for fuel. Shell has the best standard fuel with Morrisons being the worst.

I used to use sainsbury's, got about 29mpg, tesco 99 gets me about 35mpg and Shell V power gets me 38mpg and the car sounds smoother (mk5 gti)

I only fill 1/2 tank at a time as I'm told there are additives in v power that evaporate off eventually...

Another vote for shell here

All i can say in response to this frankly ludicrous thread is that its fairly clear that a lot of you do not have scientific backgrounds :p

:D

I run my Integra on Momentum because it's supposed to be. If I didn't want the performance or economy (lol) that the car is supposed to deliver then I would have a different car. I have run it on 95 and I noticed no difference, but I'm sure there was a very small mpg/bhp difference.

This is probably the best example of the sort of utter rubbish people post in threads about fuel. It's bizarre, isn't it?

Firstly, 33% more mpg? Yes, sure, whatever.

Secondly, this has to be the best post of the thread so far. You only put half a tank in once so the additives don't evaporate? Just... lol?
