Ask a Plumber....

Did you ask you wife if he used a compression joint on the flange or maybe just used an expansion joint on the compression fitting?

Pretty sure I watched, my friend watched!!! a video similar to what you’re describing? Lonely housewife calls plumber… hmmm.

In all honesty, is there a plumber anywhere in this world that doesn’t take the ****? They bend you over a barrel because they're needed and you can’t do it (Gas anyway)

Sounds like his Mrs wanted the dripping wet resolved and needed that sorting with a new pipe since the OP wasn't resolving that situation ;)

Yeah, gotta try and learn these things yourself.

I am going to replace a tap this week, I do electrics even though you are not supposed to. Electrics I am fine with, done loads, plumbing I am less experienced at, only because I have never needed to do it myself, but I have started doing a few things more recently.

Specifically with plumming, outside of heating systems anyway, just fit isolating valves before every tap, toilet etc. Then if you ever need to do something, you can simple close that without having to shut the water off to your whole house, plus if you screw it up, it just means whatever it is, the tap or whatever, will be out of commission until you sort it, just means no rush, no need for a plumber. Fortunately the house has more than one toilet.

Most of these things are not hard, but, there is a certain challenge in doing something you have never done before without being shown for the first time, but you find once you start doing a few of these things, they tend to just be a variation of the same thing.

I do need to get myself a faucet wrench today though.

Had a quote a few years back for a nre gas fire and instalstion, for the gas pipe they wanted £30 a foot, then wanted to run in the longest possable run, nearly £900, were quite surprised when I told them to **** off

Trust me if I was there, not just cucking, I'd have told the guy to do one på svenska, now I have to "suck it" more
