So, as the title suggests I emailed my partners father to ask for her hand in marriage...

That's pretty bad, I would of emailed him and asked him for a drink or something then ask the question.

FAIL, either do it in person, or don't bother at all imo
some people think asking for permission is a bit dated, I think it's a nice gesture, but much better in person

I am going to talk to him about our thoughts on the wedding but I just utilised email to initially introduce him to the idea

As the classic line goes..... BE MORE ALPHA. I have no idea what kind of father would say yes to that wet paper bag of an attempt. Do tradational things tradationally ;)
