Asking for help in getting my audio setup right

Hi,

I'm considering buying an Astro Mixamp but I'm not sure how I'm best going about setting it up so looking for some advice as this feels a little complicated to me.

Right then. I currently have a PC connected to my speakers using an RCA cable. I then have a PS4, Wii U and Xbox One all connected via HDMI to my BenQ EQ2740 monitor. From the monitor, I've got a cable out of the headphone jack and plugging into my speakers.

I've just ordered some Samson SR850 headphones and I'm looking at a solution where I can just plug my headphones into something and get whatever sound it being played at the time. Which is possibly where the Mixamp comes in.

I THINK there's two options? I can run the cable from my monitor headphone jack to the Mixamp, then a cable from the Mixamp to my speakers. But is there a socket on the Mixamp to plug in my headphones when I want to?

The second option is buying an optical switch and plugging the PC. PS4 and Xbox One into it, which then plugs into the Mixamp. However I think I might be stuck in the same position as above, is there a headphone socket to use at the same time as the speakers being plugged in?

Not sure how many people use Mixamp's, I know Turtle Beach have the DSS2 as well although that seems to lack features.

I've been scratching my head all evening trying to figure this one out and not sure what's best.

Sounds like an av receiver of some kind is what you need.

Mixamp has a headphone socket, as that's what it's designed for use with. Not sure though if it has a line out to which speakers can be connected.

Btech BT928 headphone amp, will do what you need. Has RCA input, to which you would connect to the monitor's 3.5mm output, and RCA output, to which you can connect speakers. Headphone socket and volume control on the front.
