Hi All,

A friend of mine has just go into Warhammer, he was talking about actually going to social events to play the games. We was brainstorming how he can safely transport his figures without Damaging them in the process as he doesn't drive.

Any suggestions, he was talking about making a travel box out of Wood.

Thank you

I used to use an old cantilever tool box as my miniatures transport case for expos and tournaments, just get some foam inserts/trays to pad the compartments and the minis should all remain safe.
You can get foam inserts that are cut in the shapes of the specific miniatures for Warhammer armies, but honestly the miniatures are kept just as secure between two regular sheets of convoluted foam.

KR multicase is good stuff. The card boxes aren't bad and mine have lasted. Most people dislike spending money on this stuff but are happy to throw loads at plastic toys.

You can use just buy the foam and make your boxes, or cut your own foam too. Depends how creative he wants to go.

There's also the magnetise the bases or steel washers on them, and use a magnetic or steel board stuck to the bottom of a tool box or storage box.

Alternately just a storage box and chuck them in. Depends how spikey or thin the models are. Simple models don't tend to break.

That's basically what I do, with different height boxes depending on model size. Some of the rubber metal/flex-o-metal sheets have a self adhesive backing.

Ideally you want to magnetise the models before you paint them (I do the bases in batches), as you can find the fumes from the superglue will stain the model if you do it later, so do the magnets and leave the bases in a well ventilated area for a while. For larger models you sometimes want 2-4 magnets across the base.
It's also worth buying a luggage strap/carrying strap to go around the boxes as it'll prevent the lid from accidently popping off and depending on strap can give you a carrying handle.
