I stumbled upon this recently...

Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is a neologism for a perceptual phenomenon characterized as a distinct, pleasurable tingling sensation in the head, scalp, back, or peripheral regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli.

Youtube is full of videos (mainly by attractive women) making ASMR content. The thing is, apart from watching an attractive woman, I do get the "tingly" non sexual feelings.

Youtube actually recommended this from me watching those indian head massage videos.

The main theory is "transference", by watching or hearing something you can get pleasure, almost as if it's happening to you.

I realize this is a bit out there, but does anyone else get the good feelings from this stuff?

From what I know it seems most likely that certain combinations of stimulation causes some kind of chemical release possibly DMT related.

You clearly need a TBI (testosterone booster injection), please consult your general practitioner immediately.

Studies have shown ASMR is part of the menopause you are in grave danger my friend

why do you think the videos about it are primarily women? real men are born with a special gland between their legs that secretes a counter agent nullifying the effects.

It is especially effective on toast with the honey of a queen wasp and the mustard from a bald mans scalp.

hovis or bust literally you will grow them otherwise

I regularly watch the YouTube ASMR vids on my phone to try and get to sleep, and it works every time. Without them I'm just lying awake for hours.

I have asmr with the noise of a hairdryer, hoover, fan, transport plane? The hairs on my neck all stand up and i can basically sleep like a baby. If i am having aggro, On goes the hairdryer asmr video, And i get to look at a pretty lady to boot. But the others like roleplay lmao i do not know if that is a fetish or asmr.

I think somewhere genuine freaky people mixed up kink asmr and roleplay.

To be fair though i know this sounds total gaybar apart from the lady but i once had to go for an exam in my teens, I think i was about 15-16 and what they did was put those sticky things on to my scalp and monitor my brain waves for ten minutes because i blacked out two times in one week.

But i remember the girl being really nice and when they put the little sticky things on your scalp they first clean it and rub it with something that is very course almost like a sandpaper feel. But i was in complete relaxtion mode, Like a cat being stroked i was just in heaven with this lady giving me a head massage in a soft voice.

Back then ASMR videos would have taken ages on 56k :D

big shout out to heather feather on youtube, imo she is one of the best, throws in little references and towards the end ( when your falling asleep) goes off on tangents. ive not lasted till the end of a single video yet. im really picky though and only listen to a few favourites. IE - the one where shes cleaning the suit or the one where shes taking out the bottle of regret from your brain haha. I stumbled across this whole thing because i like the feeling i get when watching someone paint or solve a rubiks cube and when i asked anyone irl, they looked at me funny. Turns out its this !

I get it when I hear people whisper in real life. It's not at all sexual for anyone wondering.

Gentlewhispering on YouTube does some really good videos to fall asleep to. Yes she has big boobs, but that's just incidental.

Yep, was watching some last night.
Bubble envelopes are great. As are the brushing the camera ones.
I find it odd how no ones even done a basic study off it. I mean how is it people can get funding for rubbish, but can't get funding to even chuck a couple of people in an MRI machine to prove it exists.

Isn't this just basically a fancy name for the hairs standing up on the back of your neck when you listen to a good piece of music? :p

Ugh, I stumbled upon these on youtube about 8 months ago, thought it really freaky at first, but now i cant seem to get through a day at work without listening to about 5 of them.

I'm a 3d artist so I spend the day with headphones on and get left alone entirely, I go into such a trance with these sometimes. Never talked to anyone else about them though.

The body reacts to neurological stimuli.

Shocker.

Strictly speaking with the right stimuli and a map of someones brain you could make them do anything, you could torture them in their mind beyond the limitations of physical pain or you could make them have the most explosive orgasm imaginable.

And anything in between. The brain is a computer and it can be programmed like anything, certain stimuli exacting a response? It's nothing new.
