Asound CMI8738

I have been downloading drivers for this sound card all evening and none of them have worked at all... They are all definitly for the correct model.

By any chance would anyone else have the same sound card? Anyone help? :confused:

Anyone any ideas at all?

Downloaded drivers from around 20 sites now and none of them will work even though they are for the correct model :mad:

if the c-media drinvers dont work then maybe you have to download them from asound? you didnt say wether you already had or not.

if they dont work, then id look at the card itself being faulty. have you tried a different pci slot?

Using that link, its the first time the Asound site has worked and its very slow :mad:

I have got the proper drivers for the card from the website however these won't work either.

I get a message a long the lines of 'This computer is not equipped with one of our chips' so it won't install drivers.

Device manager is finding the card though....

Try going 'update driver' in device manager and pointing it to the downloaded files

Tried that aswell and says its not the right software.

I have just noticed that if I turn the onboard sound of via the bios the PCI card dissappears from the device manager, then comes back when internal sound is on..... :confused:

probably because the onboard sound is being recognised as a pic card. try move it to a difference pci slot.

Tried a different pci slot then disabled onboard sound and the same thing happens, card disappears from device manager.

I also have another thread about the sound drivers - the machine is a Dell. All drivers seem to be installed ok for the sound in device manager (Legacy Audio Drivers).

However when I click that there is nothing to remove / update. The dell audio software won't work either.
