Hey folks,

Just back from a web design job interview, looks like I'll need to be learning ASP for maintaining their website.

I already have experience and a book on PHP and mySQL so was hoping for some recommendations on the best ASP books out there to learn from so I can pick up the language without to much hascel or time.

Also some information or/and books on a "Line 552 SQL backend database" would be useful.

Thanks,

Steven :)

if its classic ASP then id go for Begining Active Server Pages 3.0 from wrox or Sams Teach yourself asp in 21 days

and check out the tutorials on 4guysfromrolla.com

theres a big difference between classic asp and asp.net. which one you wanna learn?
Also if learning from scratch, learn asp.net. no point learning old technology.

old but not redundant...

most established web design/development companies will have a large client base with sites running off anything you can think of, simply ignoring "old" asp because its old is nothing more than lazyness.

ASP will be around for quite a while to come

Is ASP dead ?

Learn ASP.NET (vb.net) and ASP sort of comes naturally :)
Once you're used to asp.net you just need to learn the 'main' differences and get used to writing in-line code (if you use page behind in asp.net) for ASP.
Thats what I did at least, seems to work for me :p

If you learn ASP.net and you already know PHP then classic ASP will come very easily to you as you'll know the syntax from .net and you'll know the techniques from PHP.
