asp.net hosting

I was looking at that, but as far as I can tell to get it I need to get into a 24 month contract, which I don't really want to do.

The contract is only if you want the first 3 months free. Just before entering all your details you can change to a flexible method, where you get 0% free, but you are not bound by a contract.
I imagine there are many more out there though.

Avoid 1&1 IMO. they're support is terrible and the control panel is very unintuitive.

Check out TSOHost Windows hosting. May be a little more expensive, but definayely worth it in the long run.

Agreed, they're a terrible company to deal with.

Even when it's working, the hosting isn't very good IMO, every time a client has decided to use them, they have been looking to move away within a couple of months.

I'd personally recommend catalyst2, always had great service. I recommend them to clients too and I've never had any complaints :)

oh guys you go throw the hammer down like that!
I was going to use 1&1 this Sunday for my own website! Maybe I didn't do enough reading on them?

You really can't go wrong with either VidaHost or TSOHost. Personally all my sites are with TSO on their £50/year windows hosting as it features .Net MVC and an MSSQL db.
