asp.net in visual studio help!

basically i want to create a webpage thats connected to a database that requests data from a database.

So im going to start learning vb.net using visual studio and have the ability to connect to a sql database using sql server.

I need a guide to help me. any ideas people a good online tutorial or something?

i got visual studio express but on tutorials it says open VS and click on asp.net website. apart from i dont have that! it comes up with new windows application etc.

whats the deal?

No, just download VWD. You can start building asp.net apps immediately with that and you dont need to run a seperate web server to test your code.

im so excited ima gonna do it now! on the sly as im soo b0red at work! its driven me to learn programming in vb.net and sql:) the joys

Hopefully youve done programming before else you will have lots of hair pulling fun with .net. It is not the friendliest of environments for people who have never done programming before. If this is the case, I would jsut stick to classic ASP for what you want.

i have done programming before its okay. object orientated stuff is not my friend but for once i got time to learn it. programmed in various languages i get the fundamentals.
