aspect ratio help please

my projector outputs 1024x768 (4:3).

I am trying to upscale my dvd's using FFDshow, to higher than standard resolution. the movie im trying this with is in 2.35:1 aspect. Whats the optimum resolution to set it in?

Also while your at it, what about 16:9 as well?

Am I working the ratio out right....

16:9 (16 % 9=1.7777) so 1024 % 1.7=602 so a 16:9 ratio =1024x602

maths isnt my strong point
