Has anybody got an Acer Aspire One D250 (possibly any will work) that they can grab the boot sector from and send me a copy please?

Thanks :)

Not mine, the owner installed Grub loader on it and want's it back to factory state, which the recovery partition fails to fix and running /fixmbr will lose access (although I'm not positive as it can be acessed via windows) to the recovery partition.

Still wouldn't give back access to the recovery options on boot up, only the original boot sector or some sort of editing is going to do that.

I could just run fixmbr now as it's already lost access, what I want is the original boot sector with the option to launch the system recovery from the drive.

I don't want to restore GRUB, I want it gone.

Which would destroy the recovery partition, which I do not want.

I just need a copy of the original boot sector.

You want to restore GRUB and try to remove it properly - anything else will kill the MBR. (I've made that mistake so many times)

Grub is still on it, have not attempted to remove it yet for precisely that reason, eitehr way I am still in need of a copy of the original boot sector unless Grub automatically backs this up before over writing?

Very disappointed in Acer's recovery options on the thing too, a full factory recovery doesn't touch it.
