Aspire One OS help!!

A friend's daughter has an Aspire One... little pink thing. It's running something other than XP... what though, I cannot tell! I believe it's Linpus, as that'd come with it..

So, she did something.
To begin with, it would POST, then boot into the OS, you could move the mouse cursor etc then the display would go blank - as if the resolution is too high for the screen.

Now however, it remains on the blank screen with the cursor.

As i've never used this before - anything I can do - Linpus equivalent of safe mode??

The os is Linpus lite. Your description is a bit vague tbh. At worst it should have come with a recovery cd which allows you to make a rescue usb which can then be used to reinstall the os but that obviously means wiping the disk and anything stored on it.

You might get a better answer on the aspire one forum.

The Linux versions don't come with a recovery CD.... at least mine didn't. However, all you need is a USB key and you'll be able to restore the machine to factory default.

When I needed to restore it I followed the instructions given here - http://macles.blogspot.com/2008/12/acer-aspire-one-recovery-dvd.html - and it worked flawlessly for me. Was very quick and painless.
