After weeks of waitingr payday, my new video card has arrived. Unfortunately it won't POST when I install it :( I was previously using the card in my sig, and what's what I'm using right now. When I swap the cards around, i don't get a post, and the monitor doesn't make that little "clicking" sound when a CRT is turning on.

Anyone have any ideas? I've set the primary display adaptor in the BIOS to PCI-E and i've upgraded the BIOS to the newest version (2.2) and aparently Asrock made a fix to be able to use the 3850/3870...I really wanna see this rig fly, but I just can't figure it out. I haven't forgotten to plug in the PCI-E power cable either....also - I tried both DVI jacks.

In the bios i believe you have to set PCI-e downstream pipeline to disabled. Not sure if that's what is causing your problem though. I got that from the thread about this board.

PCI-E bus is at 100Mhz, and i've reseated it several times. I've now requested an RMA as I think card is D.O.A.

Cheers for the help mate

Hang on a minute, raise your PCI-e freq to 109 and lower your overclock on the CPU, to 266FSB. I have a feeling this will solve your woes........

EDIT - off topic, what is the max you can get out of your RAM on this board?

EDIT#2 - Why did you have to go and buy a HD3870XT 512Mb and not a HD3850Pro 512Mb? My rig would have had a twin brother then!

I forgot to add - I lowered the FSB to it's stock 200Mhz. I'll try the PCI-E bus up to 109...but shouldn't it work on the default 100Mhz? Since i've already gotten an RMA number, this will be my final test before I send it in.
