ASRock 775Dual-VSTA, Best PCI-E card available?

Hi, I currently have a ASRock 775Dual-VSTA and 7800GS(AGP). I'm looking to upgrade to a better motherboard but can not afford to buy both a motherboard and GFX in one go.

What's the best GFX card this board can take? I was hoping for a 3870, but I think I may be pushing my luck. Any guys running this GFX/Mobo setup?

I run a 3870 in an old nForce 4 SLI board and its fine, if that helps you.

I'm going to grab a 3870 on the 29th for this board...the 4x PCIE slot may bottleneck it a bit, but that's my last upgrade on this board before switching to a proper ddr2/pcie board...

You can run the 38XX series fine although you will be a bit hampered by the 4x speed of that pci-e slot. You also have to set the PCI-e Downstream Pipeline in the bios to disabled. There's a thread about this board in the motherboard section which is where i got the info from.

Yea, I had a look through some of the thread but it's quite large.

Gonna get a 3870 and then upgrade the mobo at a later stage.
