Hi all,
I have an asrock dual sata 939 mobo which currently houses a s939 dual core 4400. This mobo has some type of yellow coloured slot on it which I think might be for the am2 cpu. My question is then 'can I fit one of the new am2 style amd cpu's on this mobo?'
If so would I need some type of converter or adaptor?
TIA,
Pete

youd need an adapter, no idea how it works though seeing as am2 needs ddr2 because of the intergrated memory controller, and the adapter which goes into the yellow slot probably costs more than a proper am2 mobo.

you would need one of these

but where you would get one now i done know.

Crazy, that looks like it plugs into the PCI express slot which I think is crippled to 4x.

I'm with the earlier post, if you must go AM2, bite the bullet and get a new board.
