has anyone ever had problems with the memory and the dual sata asrock boards? i just built a pc for a friend. i used cosair value select ddr400 and its giving me nothing bar a headache. the system would go for ages then crash. i know it the board or the memory because i was able to install windows with one stick of memory but when i tried 2 sticks it just crashes. anyone got a solution

yeah, you have one stick of bad ram (it happens), thats why you could only install windows with one stick, the other one is the bad one.

post the full system specs for it
are they matched ram to run in dual channel

hmm thats strange, I run that mobo and cant think of a memory setting that would cause that, what slots you using the two blue ones? & what bios settings etc.

its an amd 3000 venice 939
sata 2 samsung 160 gig hd
enermax 480psu

wont know the bios revision till 2moro when i get it back....again

tried all the slots, runs best in single channel mode (when i mean best i mean its able to get into windows for a while before it hangs)

some mobos and some memory dont mix well, running some v tight OZ myself

pays for quality ram sometimes ;)

you shouldn't be having the problem though :/

think it might be sum thing to do with setting your memory to 1t or 2t.lots of people had this problem with this board

Use the black RAM slots. I have the same motherboard and RAM, and found that although memtest reported no problems I was getting an occassional random crash in apps, plus some file corruption problems. Tried other things such as replacing the hard drive cables, still had the problem. Eventually tried switching from the blue slots to the black ones thinking it was a long shot, but it seemed to solve it.

Not saying it'll work for you, but definitely worth a try.

The oddety about the 1t issue is that although memtest test8 dies rightaway in 1t mode, sometimes even causing lockup or reset. I have no issues what so ever within windows and even memtesters in windows dont show any trouble either including the S&M memtest. So in somecases maybe memtest is just be odd.

Of course I dont tempt fate as I have lots of bad luck in this regard in the past so I only use 1t when benchmarking ;)

found my problem, it didnt like the samsung sata 2 hard disk running in sata2 mode, reverted to standard sata and she seems perfectly stable. what a waste of hardware....
