Well, originally had 32GB, and when I replaced the board, bought another 32GB, however I think one of the new sticks is faulty... no matter what slot I put this in, I get either error "67" or "b6"... not sure what it reads... take it out, and all is well which means I'm running 56GB ram instead of a full 64GB... annoying.

Thing is, looks like I'll have to send the whole pack back as it's in a quad pack of 4x8GB... so doubt OC would take just this one back?

The codes you are getting are part of the memory training process and they mean that, that stick cant be trained or possibly the IMC is weak and cant handle 64gb.

Will the system not boot with that stick in on its own either side furthest slot from CPU. You should put it in on its own after a full bios reset and Memtest as some CPU simply cant hanlde 64gb without tuning or indeed at all. If it boots and passes mem test on its own you know your gonna have to tune voltages and timings to start to get 64gb up and running.

Can't remember if I've run it on it's own, however, say for example, I take one of the existing sticks out and replace any of them with this one, it locks on boot up... take it out and it's fine. Don't think I've ran it on it's own as I was flipping and trying to find one defective one and concluded it was this one.

I have also had big problems using 64Gb in ASUS P9X79 WS Motherboards... It REALLY doesnt like it and even at stock will not pass IBT or prime. No issues on Intel DX79TO at stock though.

Test on its own then is only way as it could be IMC and bios settings.

Even stock from one board to the next is not always comparable with the latest IMC though as when memory is trained from one board to the next different sub timings may be used. The only way you could be sure that indeed your comparing like for like would be to input every RAM timing in Bios including seconds and thirds.

Some bios are designed to be more aggressive with RAM than others too. Hence why ASUS Rampage have mode 1 and mode 2. Mode 1 is compatibility in sub timings Mode 2 very aggressive sub timings for performance.

Just checked this one stick on it's own, errors straight away and even chucking an additional 0.2v from 1.5 to 1.7 doesn't make any difference, so just unplugged all the new ram, and will RMA back now. :-(

Cheers for the help though matey, much appreciated. Just filled in RMA now, once they send out another 32GB, I'll probably use RAMDISK this new 32GB and use it for gaming etc. 64Gb is a little overkill lets be honest lol.

Totally and it limits your overclocking options too unless your CPU is very very strong. If you dont need the extra RAM no point in adding it at all.
