Well, after receiving my 330 on the 12th of this month, it has today ‘gone pop’ after only minimal use :( Can’t get any life out of the thing, it wont POST, so all attached USB devices are not working and there is no output to either the VGA or HDMI connection.

I shall be contacting OcUK first thing Monday regarding a replacement, but has anyone else had such a bad experience with this bit of kit, or did I just get the bad one of the bunch?

Thinking worse case scenario here too, if I were unlucky enough to have the replacement die also, what other system like this are there? Looking for something the same size, spec, price really – I have 4 gigs or DDR2 that were waiting to be fitted to the 330, so something that I can use those in would be nice :)

Scort.

Can build the same for £300 inc ram.

Or for under £300 you can build yourself this: InWin case, 320GB hdd, 2GB mem, zotac 9300 mobo and E5200.... nice little box that, even some light gaming

I have had one for a few months and I can't fault it. Probably a bad batch?

Fingers crossed ZuG! I'm sending it back tomorrow, so hopefully the next one will be ok.

Scort.

Hi,

I have a similar problem. I ordered an ASRock 330 Ion from another retailer and it arrived yesterday. When I switch it on there is no output over VGA, DVI or HDMI and it does not POST.

Looks like it could be a dodgy batch :-(

Mine was manufactured on 2009/07/27 in China.

Just to update you on the progress. My ASRock 330 Ion has been confirmed as faulty by the supplier. It will be replaced so I just have to wait for it to arrive.

Can anyone tell me what the Asrock Ion is like? Is there any alternatives?

Considering Buying one, just curious if they are any good for HD movies etc.

P.S Sorry for the thread Hijack :p

It rocks. Have put Win7 RC on it and it just... rocks. It is tidy, small and quiet. I am getting shot of my noisy, large media system, putting the HDDs into a caddy and de-nerding my living room. Got it for a significantly lower price than OcUK as well.

just 'unlucky', they wouldn't release products with fundamental problems, the 330 is pretty tried and tested :)

Has anyone here actually tried 1080p movies on it and can confirm it plays them nice and smooth? what is the quality of the blueray compared to a stand alone player?

My supplier has replaced my non-working one with nice new one that works. It is from a different batch as it has a different manufacture date.

I've not got the version with the blue ray drive so I cannot make comment about that.

I've not got any 1080p content to play back. I do have some HD content and it has managed to play it. With some of it, I did need to use the ASRock provided overclocking tools and increased the CPU speed to 1.9GHz to get smooth playback.

Overall, I am happy with it thus far.

How fast does the cpu and rear fan spin?
It will playback 1080p no problem.I have a acer revo 3600 with only 1gb installed and it plays 1080p no problem inside media center (windows 7)

The acer CPU fan spins between 2800-5400 so can get loud to my ears.Bear in mind i am coming from a self built media center with 12cm fans spinning at 700rpm!

However cannot fault the wattage usage on the acer 26-28 and 4 in standby...

I want the blueray version of this asrock 330. I would get it from overclockers but they don't sell them, the cheapest I have seen is £308 anyone seen cheaper?
