I built my PC a couple of years ago:

  • CPU: Intel 12600K
  • MOTHERBOARD: Asrock Z690 Steel Legend
  • RAM: Kingston Fury Beast RGB DDR4 3600
  • COOLER: 2024 NZXT Kraken Elite 280mm RGB
  • CASE: Lian Li O11 Mini (white)
  • CASE FANS: Cooler Master Halo v2
  • GPU: Zotac Gaming AMP RTX 3060 12Gb white

Overall, been pretty happy with it.. have been thinking about upgrading my GPU for a while now and was looking for something to fit into the aesthetics of the build. And then I stumbled across the Asrock B580 Intel Arc Steel Legend GPU - ordered it from OC on 17/12/2024 and still waiting on it! LOL! - once it arrives I'll post up some before and after images and update on it's performance.

wow not a lot of love here for the B580 - clearly a lot of hurt Nvidia fanboys on lurking ;) :) - I play mostly at 1440p and the B580 decimates the 3060 at this resolution... most of the comments above seem to relate to the negative press from a couple of reviews speaking about driver overheads at 1080p - which purposely picked older games that were optimised for RTX cards and tested on some processors which weren't even recommended as *minimum* for the B580..

In a lot of games at 1440p it will actually outperform a 3060/3060Ti/4060 and sometimes close to a 4070:

Intel have also shown they are fast to implement driver updates and these cards have already been improved since initial driver launches.. if any Nvidia fanboys are looking for a 3060 - let me know as there will be one for sale soon! :)

Yes, I'm afraid I agree with the other guys in this thread. More of a sidegrade at best. Are you still able to cancel the order?
it definitely isn't a sidegrade :cry::cry: - but I'll soon be in physical possession of one.. something no one else who has commented on how bad these cards are on this thread can say.. and I'll do my own benchmarking and testing on my own rig to make sure I'm happy with the performance.. I'd rather believe my own proven facts than being influenced by a couple of YouTubers with an agenda ;)

My apologies. I thought you were rocking a 3060ti, which is quite a bit better than the 3060. I think I'd still want a bigger boost in performance when purchasing a new card, though. I'm using a 7800XT and 3060ti in my PCs. The 3060ti is paired with a 2560x1440 resolution monitor and still performs admirably at that resolution in most games.
so a couple of reasons for changing - one is the boost in performance, it's also current gen card so gets loads of nice new features - something that Nvidia cards older than one generation get excluded from (despite being technically able to run them).. was pretty impressed with the cards performance at 1440p (compared to my 3060) and wanted to try an Intel card first hand - given the improvements they've made since Alchemist and also lastly - for aesthetics..

as I have a Steel Legend motherboard and white/silver/black build I wanted something to go with this.. Asrock do several Steel Legend AMD cards as well - but the RX 7600 is only 8Gb and is more expensive (c£310) and has worse performance than than B580.. you then have AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT 16GB Steel Legend (which is around c£520) and then the AMD Radeon™ RX 7900 GRE Steel Legend 16GB (which is around £800) - so from the 4 Steel Legend GPU's that Asrock do - then the B580 was the only one that I was really interested in - figured it would be a free swing at dabbling with Intel GPU's as I would get a decent proportion of my money back from selling the 3060 as I got it for MSRP - *or* if it is absolutely rotten (which I don't think it will be) - then I'd also be able to sell it on with minimal loss..
