Hi guys
New here so any help will be really apreciated.
i have relatively new build and i aimed to build somethign which i could overclock so picked components acordingly. basicly i have NO experiance with overclocking at all. this bord offers overclocking via a programme you can run on windows. does this work or will i need to do it the old fashined way?

build:
Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3
intel 2500k processor

Hi,

If I remember correctly, in the BIOS is a feature called "Turbo50"? and it gives you a few preset overclock values to pick from.

From the top of my head they may have been 4.2, 4.4, 4.6 and 4.8GHz?

They did work for me.

i'm afraid the bios software doesnt have an preset clocks. sounds like a fantastic idea though.

and thanks mickyfinn for directing me to that thread. looks handy. thouh there was no mention of exact clocks for the 2500k processor. would it be exactly the same for a z68 and a z77?

That option should be there in the BIOS somewhere?

I'm running a 2500k on the Z68 Extreme 4 Gen3 at 4.4Ghz. I'll take pictures of my settings. Obviously they aren't guaranteed to work as each chip has different tolerances, but it should give you an idea :)

Send me a message via trust to remind me later.

There are pre-set overclock settings in the BIOS with this board. But be careful as there quite aggressive on CPU temps. So make sure you have good cooling and not just the standard stuff that came with the 2500k. I suggest you aim for 4.4GHz to start with and see how you get on. Good luck.
