Moving from a MSI P67 Motherboard to my new Asrock Z68, my graphics card performance has taken a dive. I have installed all the latest drivers, I have tried playing around with the Virtu software and even updating the bios but the WMI in Windows 7 is stuck at 6.7 and my World of Warcraft frame-rate has also dived into the crapper. Has anyone else got this board, and had the same problems and been able to fix it?

Yes oh and not that it means anything but my card scored 7.4 on the WEI before on my old P67 motherboard and was amazing for the games I played. This time it scored 6.7 on the new board and WoW is playable but only at far lower settings than before

Yes fresh install of Windows 7 Professional with SP1 Installed, drivers used were the one's supplied with the CD...i have tried updating them but still no improvement etc. I have put in a question to orders to see if i could swap this for a cheaper p67 board, they have the board I had before with B3 stepping and I know that board works fine with this card (Gigabyte GTX 460 SoC)

Update: Trying something, Lucid Logix Driver only supports 266.58 drivers apprantly so I am going to try them and see if it restores the performance

Update 2: Still no luck at getting this to work properly. Moving down to 266.58 didnt work

I think what i'll do is contact OCUK tomorrow and see if I can exchange the board, the level of performance im getting is pretty unacceptable

Update: Turns out I cannot exchange it but will send it back for a refund, not the best solution I guess but at least it means ill be back up and running this week

Have you not tried disabling the Onboard VGA first? You can do that on the BIOS... and you don't need to install virtu either.

That is really strange. I have the same board and I haven't suffered any performance loss when Virtu and the Onboard display is switched off. If I switch it on and use Virtu in i-mode then my scores are a bit lower (about 3%-5%) but in d-mode its almost unnoticeable.

By reading this thread the only thing you haven't done is disable the onboard VGA in the BIOS, that should get rid of any problems anyway.

Asrock x68 Pro 3 and yes the power connectors are in correctly. I have tested the card with another PC and the graphics card's performance is restored so it is not the graphics card, the only other thing is the mobo. So I went ahead and ordered an MSI P67-G45. It's going to suck having to use my backup computer but its going to have to do for tonite.

I physically checked over the 6pin connectors on the graphics card to check if they have been damaged but everything seems in working order. The board itself is going to be returned to OCUK tomorrow once my new board turns up.

It has to be that your mobo is faulty or user error. There haven't been any reports of issues with this mobo. I know this is not very helpful but no one else has reported problems like this with that board.

Its more than likely faulty but that is for OCUK to determine, I'm simply get it refunded ^.^. It does not matter now anyway, I have a P67 motherboard coming tomorrow anyway so the sooner tomorrow comes, the sooner I can get back to screaming down ventrilo :D. As for user error, honestly I dont see where I could have gone wrong, I tried everything in my power to get it to work correctly, maybe Asrock just does not like me hah, thanks for all the help thou

Ezyryder Did you check the performance of the onboard graphics before you used your discrete video card as was just wondering how it performs as i will only be using onboard for graphics.

I am going to admit it when I am wrong, turns out it was the graphics card that was faulty after all, it looks like there's a problem with the 6Pin connectors so that the card is not getting enough power to run at full. I regret sending the z68 back now but it doesnt matter, I am going to RMA this card and hopefully get a replacement sometime soon.
