I've been reading up on the Asrock Z68 Extreme4, it has some good reviews.
But, it's the 'Smart Response Technology' that has me confused, maybe it's the way ASrock has written it.
See link: http://www.asrock.com/microsite/IntelZ68/index.asp?c=SRT

It's from Step 5, that has me confused, I understand installing O/S on sata hard drive, but do you have to copy it over to the SSD, when you got to Step 10?

I've built my pc's for years, but some of this new technology has me at a loss, prehaps it's the way I'm reading it.

No you do not have to copy anything to the SSD, just install windows on the HDD and install the latest driver/RST package after that you should just be able to turn on caching in the Intel RST manager.

I understand what your saying, but could I use a SSD for the O/S instead of the hard drive.

Aye, you can - just install the OS onto the SSD as if it were a HDD (just make sure AHCI or RAID mode is selected in the BIOS before installing the OS).

However, this isn't SRT (Smart Response Technology)/SSD caching, this is full-on "SSD as primary hard disk" (which is faster than SRT, but requires a decent size SSD).
