Asus one seems to have a better cpu placement, i had the z68 asrock board and it was tight fitting an axp140 cooler without it hitting the vga card

That ASRock board is sweet. Got to say I much prefer ASRock these days but each to their own. I love my Z68 Extreme 4.

Unlikely. Dont think thunderbolt is going to be integrated into a chipset till 8-series. I mean they still dont support SATA3 on all ports nor all USB3.0 ports either. Also given how few things can use it (pretty much just some mac stuff) I cant see it getting particularly big any time soon.
