I've had a lot of good experiences with ASROCK boards over the years. They generally don't overclock much, with the odd exception but are stable and cheap. If it has all the features you want I'd say go for it.

ASRock are ASUS budget brand. It's not a case of being 'owned by'. They are made in the same factories as ASUS boards and are generally just rehashes of old ASUS designs.

They are excellent value for money, buit they are not popular with resellers because the margins are low. If you sell a £60 motherboard you'll probably make £15 on it, but you'll only make £5 on a £30 motherboard. What would you sell?

ok ive installed new mobo and psu, and with using the onboard vga i get a signal on my monitor now ( hurrah) BUT it wont use the 260gtx, even if i leave it in the pci-e slot with the power cables but disconnect the vga from it, it will still gimie a black screen, i have to completly remove it before it boots up on on the onboard vga, it doesnt seem like a faulty card, i must be doin something stupid?????

disable the on board? its got a choice of 3 on there to choose from, onboard, pci and pci express, i selected pci express but it still didnt work :@

no ASROCK broke away from asus, but asus still helps them out not sure if asus supports them in money thats what I heard anyway

My understanding, and things do change, is that ASUS own a manufacturing company called Hua Ching, which makes motherboards. Hua Ching's 'own brand' is ASRock. The Hua Ching factories can make many more boards than ASRock sells, so what brand(s) are the other ones it makes? My guess is ASUS, seeing as how they own the company.

WJA96 is correct, but funnily enough some of Asus's top end lines were (& maybe still are) being manufactured by Foxconn. not at all surprising, as Foxconn manufacture for a number of well known brands, Apple being among them, (the iPhone, iTouch etc are manufactured by Foxconn)

well I finally got a reply from ****** with the RMA for the zotac 260gtx 216, they have said its faulty and are sending one out today and it will be with me tomorrow :-)

ASRock are good boards if you ain't planning on overclocking, most of their boards are bad when it comes to getting a decent clock.
