Fancy a X48 on the cheap, well this board will be available sometime this month supporting DDR2 & DDR3 !

Oooooooooh.

Budget X48 without the heatpipe nonsense. Silly power socket placement, but you could live with that if watercooling.

I've been looking about and it seems to have been over 2 months since it was first announced.

I have to say - Asrock have been up to a lot of good lately. I retired my old 4CoreDual-VSTA in favour of this 4Core1600P35-WiFi and I have to say I'm mighty impressed. Reviews I've read have the FSB going up to 569Mhz, although I'm running mine at only 350 because I can't lower the multiplier on the CPU...They sure are great value for money though!

If supported ram was the other way round ie 4gb for ddr3 and 8gb for ddr2 i would consider it. As it is i have 8gb of ddr2 sitting here and don't feel like binning half of it sadly otherwise looks like a good board.

Hah! I'm suprised, I have a E2160 aswell and I can't lower my multiplier. How weird, well I'm not the only one then, so frustrating :S

I know in terms of the future it is more sensible but i would have thought in terms of selling at this time more ddr2 would have been a better commercial route to go.

the northbridge heatsink looks rather puny compared to what we are used to, cant see it clocking too well.

Half of the stuff we see on todays mobos is style of content IMO.

Copper this copper that, heat pipe this heat pipe that,

A 120 MM fan over that NB would be fine.

you'd need a 40mm fan taped to it really. Also why is there no cooling over the PWM? cant see this board overclocking much tbh.

Why no cooling on the PWM?

'Cos its got a bloody CPU power socket and two SATA ports basically on top of it along with the main ATX power socket right next to it for some crazy reason.

It's perfect for watercooling the northbridge. No silly heatpipes getting in the way of removing the nb heatsink.

A fan over the PWM will probably do the trick. Or you can get a set of little PWM heatsinks for under a tenner.

Yeah

I agree.

Its not rocket science to cool PWM's or a NB.
