Assassins Creed 2 DX9 mode?

Hi guys,

I'm just wondering what DX mode Assassins Creed 2 defaulty works with? I'm not sure if it's DX9, 10, 11.

Wondering because on my current rig I'm only getting about 40FPS with shadows off and no AA so I was hoping I could knock the DX level down to 9 so I could add a bit more AA.

It is DX9 only in II. I'm sure I had DX10 but then they patched it out to DX9 because it was having issues.

Assassin's Creed 2 never had DX10, Assassin's Creed 1 supported DX10.1 but it was patched out.

I think it may have been a time/laziness issue as the xBox only renders in DX9 so it would have required more work to add in DX10/11 support for the PC.

AC1 worked perfectly under 10.1 ... since AC2 is based on AC1 engine, why would AC2 suddenly have major issues
