I'm thinking about playing through the Assassin Creeds again, having recently bought them all on Steam, I had a quick bash on AC1, remembered why I hate playing them, I'm rofl stomping whole crowds and it's going to end up as a long interactive movie as there's no real challenge.

Is there any difficulty mods for the AI to make them none retarded?
And I don't want anything in which makes the gameplay change such as removing maps etc or changing aspects of the UI, as that still doesn't change the core gameplay (As I've seen people saying that's how Assassins Creed should be played, but the AI still blows)

Cheers, otherwise it'll make what could be a pretty awesome game boring :p

If there is i'd also like to know, I stopped playing them after the first for the same reason. You are like a jedi, can take down the entire city without being hit. What really surprises me is that they are still really popular. When I voiced these concerns on the game forum I was quite aggressively told "then play it stealthy like you are suppose to and it's fun!".. I don't find spending time to be stealthy fun though when you know it's completely unnecessary.

I found the difficulty was significantly better in Revelations, due to the revamped blocking system. Small groups of enemies have to be overwhelmed swiftly with aggression before the bigger bads arrive and chop you up.

I agree that the first one was a bit lolworthy with the crowd clearing skills of hold block and counter.

You could try the 'ugly' method of making it harder by banning yourself from using the block button, which seems massively overpowered in AC1.

To be honest, the later games didn't get any harder due to the combos you could get during counter kills, you could kill 10 men in as many seconds provided they were all close. I used to love watching throwing knife/dagger combo kills.

I would just skip AC1, it's not great tbh. The rest on the other hand are awesome :D

I like AC1, it's repetitive but meh.

I'd have to say AC1 was the harder of the lot, given the templars can put up a semi decent fight early on when you've lost everything.

Its not a particularly hard game, but I like it for its setting, general concept and storyline. Assassins Creed 2 is a fair bit better than the first however, so I'd recommend you at least try that.

Assassin's Creed 1 keeps freezing when it gets to the Ubisoft Montreal Production screen, any ideas anyone?
