How do the Assassins Creed games play/run on the PC, thinking about picking them up on Steam as they are going cheap when brought individually?

Do you have to play them with a controller, how well do they handle on mouse/keyboard?

Thanks.

I would not use M+K, they are really designed for controllers.

I've played 3 and it's fine. It's a bit buggy but I gather it was like that on all platforms.

As for performance/visuals, they're fantastic - pc is the best platform.

As for controls, console is better unless you have a controller.

What is a good controller for the PC, the Xbox one any good? I could use the PS3 controller, but no official drivers support and I don't fancy loading additional software if I can avoid it.

Utterly gorgeous on p.c..
I can understand the m+k issues some people have but you do just get used to it. I only had one scene in a catacomb that drove me nuts trying to get the little fella to turn halfway up a wall but learnt that you just slow your tapping down a tad and it's job done. Easy after that.

They're very good, but 1&2 are the pinnacle. After that it's too much faffing around crap and less stabbing people. I wouldn't pay more than a few quid for BH, Revelations, or 3.

You will want a 360 controller though for your PC.

been making my way through ac3 for the second time on pc. definitely a controller game though, to the point i'd be unable to play it without a controller.

you can try and use a ps3 controller, but it's not exactly perfect. at least the xbox controller is properly recognised by the game and you don't even need to set it up. it's like playing on a massively overpowered xbox.

can't say I thought much of the first one, extremely difficult towards the end. but the second and third games are good, haven't played any of the others.

Good games IMO, I've beaten them all over the course of the past year. I played with a XB360 pad, which was quite unusual for me.

You can get away with skipping the original as IMO it isn't as refined and quitting the game is a massive chore (11 clicks that takes like a minute).
