Assassin's Creed Storyline

Evening all,

I bought AC1 and hated t, so barely played it and sold it.
I played AC2 to the end and have just finished AC Brotherhood.
Therefore I get the story to some level but not fully.

My questions are:
What is the storyline? Why is the bloke in the go-back-into-memories thingy machine?

I get the story of Ezio in AC2 and AC Brotherhood, but how did it all begin?

Was it Ezio in AC1?

I played the game and I have no clue what is going on..I like the envornement graphics and jumping the roofs though lol

Pretty much this tbh, I'm sure if you were Italian then you'd be lapping up the dialogue on show but for brit who doesn't generally venture outside of Essex I had zero clue what the hell was going on most of the time

All I know is the modern day stuff (ironically what the OP didn't understand) i.e. they're using Desmond because he's a descendant of Ezio/Altair
