Ubisoft has released the specs for the PC version of Assassin's Creed Unity. Does your computer have what it takes to bring the French Revolution to life?

If ever there was a case against Ubisoft sticking two fingers up at PC gamers this is it. Most people around here would be able to play it comfortably but large numbers of people won't be able to which just allows Ubisoft to go on to say how poor sales are on PC copies and they'll continue to focus on console.

I generally like the AC series but I have a feeling that it may well be a PS4 purchase and wait until a steam sale to buy it on PC.

At least I've only seen about 87 'can i run it' posts this afternoon around the web............

50gb space?? Cant wait to see the graphic, black flag was stunning, cant wait!

the requirement is very very high, 680 as minimum + Ubisoft BAD CODING = big test to most high end card to achieve constant 60fps

This is another UBI game I shan't bother getting. I don't like the way they are treating PC gamers lately and till we get some love, they won't get my cash.

It doesn't bother me. I could think of a million things I'd rather spend my money on than Afaffin's Creed, including a barium enema.

High specs but until we see benchmarks we won't know for sure how gamers with mid-range hardware will actually fare.

That said Unity does look like a visual step up from Black Flag/Far Cry 3 and those two games still test GPU horsepower so maybe the specs are reasonable after all.

You know, considering how large organisations are capable of doing surprisingly dim things, I wouldn't be surprised if all they have done is use their standard no thought/common sense 'system' and select a 3rd generational name old top tier card, thinking surely by now modern equivalent is probably a mid tier £120 range card that is probably in the majority of gamers PC's.

From the ubisoft spec page:
Note: Laptop versions of these cards may work but are NOT officially supported.

(I couldn't find a gif to fit my reaction)

To be honest I expect I'll be able to play this ok with my overclocked 7870, especially after the first few patches for Unity come out. Watch Dogs runs much better now for example.

wanted to ask - what are people's experience of 'official' gpu specifications before a game is released & 'actual' specifications once the game comes out? usually lower, no?

also, one other thing - if the minimum, for amd, is a 7970, why, when it comes to supported cards does it seem to be phrased wider (i.e. Radeon R9 200 series) rather than just cards which are the equivalent of the 7970.

guess in practice it's a case of wait & see what the reports are when it comes out....
